Samira* is a refugee who faced being coerced into a violent arranged marriage in her home country. After fleeing her home country she made her way to Australia, where she eventually found true love and became pregnant with her first child. Unfortunately, soon after falling pregnant, the couple endured further challenges as they faced homelessness. Financial hardship, family breakdown and an unprecedented rental market made sure that they had no option but to sleep on the beach.
Thankfully the couple found support through LocalKind Northern Beaches, Bridge Housing Limited , St George Housing, Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter , Ebbs House Mission Australia and the unwavering support of our LocalKind wider network. The family now has a safe and secure place to call home and bring their baby boy home once he is born.
